The Dishwasher

First, I would like to say if your dishwasher works, please do not take it for granted!

Brian and I were prepared to run our first load of dishes last Friday night when we discovered that no water was running into the machine! We cleaned out the drain in the dishwasher and found leaves?! Then Brian took them bottom part of the dishwasher out and discovered a crack in one of the tubes. He had me look under this dishwasher and her's how it looked:

Congratulations to you if you spotted the large piece of duct tape in the back. I'm not quite sure exactly what it's purpose is here, but there it sits!

On Saturday, Brian's brother John came over to help us with some electrical problems we're having. While he was there, he and Brian pulled out the dishwasher to inspect it further.

Notice the old flooring. It is red brick linoleum, like bringing an outside patio in. Or incredibly tacky, depending on your tastes. I'm very glad this linoleum is covered up! While the dishwasher was pulled out, Brian replaced the cracked tube and we discovered that the copper piping to the dishwasher had a slow leak it. God knows how long it had been dripping into the pan under the dishwasher, as it is almost completely rusted out. Brian stopped the leak and we carefully pushed the dishwasher back into place. Unfortunately, our dishwasher is still not working, so we're trying to get a repair man out this Saturday.

Which leads me back to not taking your dishwasher for granted, because handwashing sucks!
